NSF TTP Program Overview

The NSF Technology Translation Partnerships (TTP) program offers $30M in funding for projects that bring research innovations closer to real-world applications. With around 29 awards expected, the program is an opportunity for research institutions and non-profits to collaborate on high-impact translational research.

  • TTP-Explore (TTP-E): Pilot extensions for current NSF awardees to explore applications with societal impact (up to $600,000 for 24 months; proposals accepted anytime). 
  • TTP-Translate (TTP-T): New projects to mature ideas from research to practical applications (up to $1,200,000 for 36 months; deadlines: Sept 16, 2025; Jan 20, 2026; May 19, 2026). Includes $50,000 budget for I-Corps training. 
  • TTP-Partner (TTP-P): Large-scale translation efforts requiring strategic partnerships (up to $2,000,000 for 48 months; same deadlines as above). Requires at least one NSF Catalyzed Partner and includes I-Corps training.
  • Interdisciplinary collaborations

  • Prototype design & testing

  • Technology Readiness Level (TRL) advancement

  • Standards development

  • Industry partnerships & startup formation

  • Advanced manufacturing

  • Main applicants: Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) or non-profits

  • Small businesses: Can participate as Catalyzed Partners in TTP-P
