TABA Supplemental Funding

Maximize the impact of your SBIR/STTR award with additional technical and business support.

Technical and Business Assistance (TABA) is supplemental funding offered by SBIR/STTR agencies to help awardees strengthen the business and commercialization side of their projects.

It provides access to specialized third-party services such as IP strategy, market research, and commercialization planning, complementing your core award and accelerating your path to impact.

What You Get with TABA?

TABA provides extra funding to cover commercialization and business activities that your grant doesn’t allow!

Market Commercialization

Market research, commercialization plan review, partner identification

Technical Support

Product development, risk minimization, problem-solving

IP & Legal

IP strategy, patent landscape review, regulatory consultation.

Business & Team Support:

Financial planning, fundraising strategy, team building

Elegibility Criteria

If you’ve received multiple grants, only one project will be considered for TABA. In addition, if you already received TABA funds with your Phase I award, you won’t be eligible to request them again at this stage. However, you can still include a TABA request in your Phase II application. You may be eligible for TABA funds if:

You must be an SBIR/STTR awardee (Phase I or Phase II).

You had a Phase I grant or contract within the last two years.
