The U.S. federal government has officially reopened, and agencies have resumed normal operations as of today. After the recent funding lapse, many federal departments are now shifting their focus toward addressing the backlog created during the shutdown.

With operations restored, federal agencies are returning to standard workflows. However, they will need time to catch up on the accumulated backlog. Initial priorities include:

Currently, the National Science Foundation (NSF) is the only agency that has publicly released detailed guidance. Based on this, we expect other agencies to follow a similar approach—focusing first on critical award management tasks before shifting back to routine processes.

- Proactively contact your award manager. If you have pending management issues or urgent questions, we recommend reaching out as soon as possible. Getting your message into their queue early will help expedite the process once they address incoming requests.
- Stay informed. Monitor your inbox, your agency’s website, and relevant portals for updates. Our team will also continue tracking agency communications and share updates as they become available.
